My Story
Welcome to my official blog!
My name is Jan Johnson and I created Jan Johnson, Inc to make the statement that I am the CEO of myself. On this site you will find a ton of information all based on my experience. I provide advice, systems, strategies and mentoring to home based business entrepreneurs who are looking to grow personally so that their business growth will follow. You will lean how I connect with the “coincidences” of life and use these coincidences for guidance. This helps me decipher where I am headed and reflect on where I’ve been. Helping you connect with your power is my passion and I look forward to the relationship we will build together on your journey of becoming the CEO of yourself. I know that I will NEVER have to report to another boss or CEO again!
Meanwhile, a little more about me…
I come from an extremely poor family. As the oldest of 7 children, I grew up in a 900 square foot house that became more and more crammed as each new sibling arrived. My dad held 3 jobs trying to support all of us. As a little girl I constantly told myself I was not going to live like this. I was going to have more for my family and my children. As a result of this mantra, I put myself through school, got my MBA and ended up with a job at IBM. I saw opportunity there so I worked my way through all of the corporate politics and eventually ended up becoming the CFO of a major segment of IBM. I made a strong six figure income and was considered the success story in my family. But I had to lay people off and I was clocking 70 to 100 hours a week. I hated it and I still reported to a CEO. I had always wanted to own my own business but I didn’t know how to walk away from the income that was supporting my two sons and the great lifestyle and golden handcuffs that came with it.
My Introduction To The Home Business World…
One day a friend came to me with the idea of joining a network marketing company as something to do in my “spare” time. After I first got the laughter out of my system, on a whim I decided to try it. What the heck! So I became an Independent Rep of a telecommunications company that already had 250,000 reps in it and was 8 years old. This company eventually grew to 3.2 million reps and did a billion in revenue. Working hard (while I was still in my executive job) I became the number 3 earner in that company. I spoke on stage around the world in front of tens of thousands of people and I made millions. And, I did it the old fashioned way with hotel meetings and travel. I was in the right place at the right time.
The Rise and Fall…Losing It All…
Eventually that company went through management restructure and did not keep up with the changing times so it folded. I had long since quit my corporate job so here I was living in my dream home in the mountains on 35 acres but my career and the dreams that came with that were swept out from under me. For a brief time I moved to another similar networking company that courted me to come with them. But their company culture was not consistent with my belief system and I can’t do anything I don’t believe in. At the time a friend of mine was making a lot of money investing in real estate so I partnered with him and we went big! We built houses in Arizona, Florida and Mexico…at absolutely the wrong time! Long story short, I lost $2million and was devastated. In my mind, this was going to be a huge hoorah and it failed miserably. If this wasn’t enough, around the same time one of my sisters and a brother passed away, two other sisters were diagnosed with cancer and I found out that I had to have a double mastectomy. I am relaying all of this personal detail to help you understand that I can truly relate to what so many people have gone through on both the upside and the downside of life.
Throughout my career I had come to realize that my passion (and my gift) is leading other people to success. I have also learned that if I help others be successful, my own destiny is guaranteed. So, I picked myself up, dusted me off and decided to look inside for what I do best and figure out how to send what I’ve learned out to the world.
The Power of The Internet…
This is what brought me to the clear understanding that I needed to go global on the internet. I have known for a long time that the web was the way of the future. I saw it coming early on in my IBM career and always knew that if there was a way to harness the energy of people worldwide, then the global market place could be at our fingertips. I’ve made millions helping others be at the right time in the right place. What feels so great now is the realization that if you take that past timing and place and multiply it ten thousand fold you have TODAY and the INTERNET. Right now IS the time to be involved. THIS is what you will learn as you stroll around my blog.
My Role…
Like you landing here, I ventured too, and landed on many sites while doing my research. Inevitably, many of these promised me financial freedom and/or a life of pleasure and wholeness. However, after the real estate debacle that was still so fresh in my bones I had come to think everyone was a fraud. Therefore, although I would click on everything imaginable I never had any intention of actually believing anything anyone said. This was a terrible place to come from and unlike the persona I had carried with me throughout my life and my very successful years. I wanted to trust and believe again and I wanted to be back to being me. Fortunately, because I stuck to my path little by little I started to reopen. I know now that (like everything that happens in life) the path I took happened for a reason. I had to experience fear and loss so that I could have the background for teaching how to overcome it.
You and Me…
My commitment to you is total honesty and complete integrity as I share my life and business views. One of the important things I have learned through my very successful corporate and networking careers is that people strive because they really want success, but more than this, they really want to feel necessary. We are all spokes in a wheel. But what we have to realize is that if one spoke becomes loose and fails, the wheel collapses.
My role with you is to help you on the bumpy path of struggle to find your passion so that once again you realize how necessary you are.
